2B Umpire Jerry Crawford ejected A's Manager Bob Geren for arguing an infield fly rule no call in the bottom of the 4th inning of the Reds-A's game. With none out and three on, A's right fielder Gabe Gross hit a 2-2 fastball from Reds pitcher Johnny Cueto to Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips, who threw to Reds catcher Ramon Hernandez and Reds third baseman Miguel Cairo for a double play. Replays indicate that although Gross' hit was in flight, the batted ball did not appear to have gone high enough into the air for it to be considered a fly ball under Rule 2.00, the call was correct.* At the time of the ejection, the Reds were leading, 2-0. The Reds ultimately won the contest, 3-0.
