Umpire of the Year: Mike Reilly (31)

Mike Reilly is the Umpire Fantasy League's 2010 Umpire of the Year. In his 34th Major League Baseball umpiring season, was named as the crew chief and HP Umpire to the 2010 All-Star Game, his fourth. Reilly finished 2010 with zero ejections. Notably, Reilly was praised by many voters for being "the best veteran umpire in the league." Though Reilly has not yet publicly addressed the issue of his retirement, many voters are under the impression that 2010 was Reilly's last season. As a result, Reilly's Umpire of the Year award may be infused with accolades for Reilly's 34 years of work at the Major League level. It is still uncertain whether Reilly will return in 2011; Reilly has not declared 2010 to be his last season as Umpire Jerry Crawford has done. Reilly finished the 2009 season with one ejection.

Mike Reilly (31) now has 7 points in the Umpire Ejection Fantasy League.
Mike Reilly is owned as a Secondary Umpire by jjpok, who is now in 9th place in the UEFL with 7 points.

The UEFL Final Standings and Statistics will be released today.

This was a great decision on Mike! Thanks for all your years of hard work Mike! The game, umpires, and especially Eric Cooper will miss you! Great work.

The Umpire of the Year Award could have gone to any number of guys, but good for Mike Reilly. He's a great guy and a great umpire. If this really was his last year, which is something that I haven't really seen reported anywhere else, then the game will miss him. He's a guy that does his job well and does it quietly.

On a light-hearted note, that was the best picture you could find of Mike Reilly? Him shooing away a pigeon, or whatever he's doing there, lol.
