HP Umpire Jeff Kellogg ejected Red Sox center fielder Coco Crisp, Rays designated hitter Jonny Gomes, and Rays pitcher James Shields for fighting in the bottom of the 2nd inning of the Rays-Red Sox game. With none out and none on, Crisp was hit by a 1-0 fastball from Shields and immediately proceeded to charge the mound, leading to a 15 minute delay during which Crisp, Gomes, and Shields were ejected. At the time of the ejection, the Red Sox were leading, 3-1. The Red Sox ultimately won the contest, 7-1.
