1B Umpire Angel Campos ejected Astros catcher Brad Ausmus and Manager Cecil Cooper in the top of the 7th inning of the Brewers-Astros game. With two out and none on Brewers center fielder Mike Cameron attempted to check his swing on a 2-2 count. Campos ruled he was able to hold up, and Ausmus yelled his disagreement, prompting his ejection. Replays show that Cameron appeared to have attempted a swing, the call was incorrect. Later in the inning, Cooper was ejected for arguing a pickoff throw, from Astros pitcher Chris Sampson to Astros first baseman Lance Berkman, immediately following another close pickoff play, that throw coming from the new Astros catcher Humberto Quintero to first baseman Lance Berkman. Replays show that both pickoff plays, ruled safe by Campos, were called correctly. At the time of the ejection, the Brewers were leading, 7-6. The Brewers ultimately won the contest, 10-6.
